An opportunity to experience what our surrounding towns have to offer and how much local talent we have out here in the Central West., with Mendooran’s Talented Blackgate Distillery & Blue Sky Cheese.

Both are situated in Mendooran, 45 mins from Dubbo. These two businesses, driven by passion, have been making serious waves in their industries

In the oldest town on the Castlereagh River two local cheese enthusiasts have joined forces to create Mendooran’s first cheese business. “We are passionate about making hand crafted cheese from single source milk. We are making our tasty soft cheeses the old fashioned way – with skill, passion and intuition”.

Pip and Deb met during the annual Mendooran Show and got talking. A love of all things artisan and a joint passion for cheese, the girls were the right age to hang up their day jobs and concentrate on producing a high quality product that would appeal to everyone. They even use another Local business, Little Big Dairy Co, a single source dairy on the outskirts of Dubbo to make their amazing cheeses.

Their range includes the Castlereagh Camembert, Peppertree Feta, Beni Blue and Pippy Wippy Swiss.

Brian & Genise Hollingworth from Black Gate Distillery are a small husband and wife operation established in 2009 - the first hot climate whisky distillery in NSW. Producing a range of Whiskies and Rum which are both brewed and distilled on site, and a spirit on the richer end of the flavour spectrum. They stick with traditional methods, use the highest quality ingredients/casks available and encourage visitors to visit their distillery to see the processes.

This session will allow you to opportunity to “meet the makers” and pair their products together for a true experience of the culture we have in the Central West.
